On September 10, 2015 the Sunrise String Quartet gave a performance in the Luzernersaal at the KKL concert complex, as part of the San Francisco Symphony’s participation in the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland. This concert was the final installment of a month-long 40 Minute Concert Series with the theme of “Humor.” Appropriately, the Sunrise String Quartet performed “Scherzo” and “Finale” from Haydn’s String Quartet, Op. 33, No. 2, nicknamed “The Joke.” They explained the humorous elements that Haydn cleverly integrates into his delightful music, including several false endings which encourage the listeners to applaud before the piece is actually over.
